Accha sunno.... We all are affected somehow by the pandemic situation. And most of us don't know how the virus enters the body and how our body is reacting in response to the virus.

We all must atleast know some basics about how our body functions.

Hence, I have described everything about corona virus in as simple language as possible. Even if you don't understand, please try to read till the end to get to know about the virus and your body.

Origin of virus:

According to some evidences based on 2013 SARS virus and 2019 Covid 19, the strains of virus match to the ancestral strains present in bats. 

This means the virus present in bats has been passed to humans through a mediator or another mammal which lead to some changes in viral strains

Bats --------> other mammal -------> Humans

This evidences are based on various factors such as presence of viral strains in Wuhan sea foods, presence of virus in bats,etc. and has not been proven to be 100% true.

Types of corona virus:

• Alpha corona virus
• Beta corona virus 
• Gamma corona virus
• Delta corona virus

These subtypes are further divided into many serotypes. These viruses infect pigs, cats, dogs, mice, birds, whales, bats, humans.

Transmission:

• Human to human
• Mammal to human and vice versa ( not confirmed, less number of evidences)
• Via:- cough or sneeze droplets, saliva, touching infected places or humans and also through faeces (not confirmed, less evidence)

Mechanism of action:

Our body consists of receptors and enzymes which act as lock and key to carryout a particular action.

Receptor - lock (ACE RECEPTOR)

Enzyme - key (ACE 2)

This enzyme binds with receptor and regulates blood pressure and other important mechanisms.

This receptor is found in lungs, kidneys, some blood vessels and recent study reveals the presence of receptors in nose too!

Corona virus binds to ACE receptors.

Binding:

Now corona virus has various proteins:-

• Spike protein 
• Membrane protein
• Envelope protein
• Hemaggluttin esterase (HE)

The spike proteins binds to the receptor and leaves the outer parts of virus to fuse with human cell.

Hence the viral part (RNA which causes infection) enters the cell. Inside the human cell the virus starts multiplicating and then exits to infect other human cells

In this way the virus infects organs.

Symptoms:

• Fever
• Cough
• Weakness
• Bowel problems
• Difficulty in breathing
• Sometimes no symptoms occur in patients.

How our body is fighting back:

Some people have strong immune system (immune system is simply a defense system which fights back with virus by producing chemicals known as antibodies)

Due to strong immune system, those people can produce antibodies and can recover by their own.

Others with weak immune system, age below 10 and above 60, other complications such as high BP, diabetes, respiratory diseases need treatment to fight the virus.

Treatment:

Virus can be destroyed by vaccine which contain virus in weak (no infecting power) form.

As no vaccine is formulated the treatment includes medicine which just treat the symptoms such as:-

• Antipyretic - reduce body temperature
• Analgesic - reduce pain
• Antibiotic - reduce the chances of other infections
• Hydrating agents - to maintain water level in body
• Mechanical ventilator - to reduce difficulty in breathing
• Anti-viral drugs - these drugs are used in AIDS and other viral diseases and also effective in Covid 19
• Vitamin C, vitamin D and Zinc - increase immunity.

Recovery:

If these therapies are not effective the patient is injected with artificial antibodies i.e antibodies taken from other humans who have developed antibodies by fighting back with virus.

This treatment is still in trial stage

So this was about virus and your body. There are rumours spreading all over the world and some people believe it due to lack of knowledge.
